| Solid Practice Effort For Patrick Sheltra At
Talladega
“MTV’s Real World Scott Herman A Popular
Face In ARCA Garage!”
TALLADEGA, Alabama (April 23, 2009) - - Patrick Sheltra
is on a mission this weekend. Not on a mission to win his
first career race as the Indiantown, Florida native delivered
his first ARCA RE/MAX Series victory in spectacular fashion
at Salem Speedway earlier this month, but on a mission to
put his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings / BuckedUpApparel.com
Dodge Charger in victory lane on a superspeedway.
The last time Sheltra, a 22-year old rising star tackled
a superspeedway it was on the treacherous high banks of
Daytona International Speedway where Sheltra was involved
in a monstrous accident which almost halted Sheltra’s
third year of ARCA RE/MAX Series competition.
Back and better than ever, Sheltra returns to restrictor
plate racing this time at the breathtaking 2.66-mile superspeedway
of Talladega, Alabama where the current ARCA RE/MAX Series
point’s leader set the 11th fastest time in the lone
practice session on Thursday by setting a time of 51.767
seconds at 184.983 miles per hour.
“The car is real good,” said Sheltra, who finished
fifth in last year’s ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega
Superspeedway. “The car is set to race. I think we
have a good qualifying car but this baby will really come
to life in the race.”
On the heels of a second place finish last Sunday at Rockingham
Speedway, Sheltra invades Talladega Superspeedway looking
to keep his momentum alive while pulling ahead in the ARCA
RE/MAX Series point standings.
“This is a crap-shoot race for sure,” Sheltra
sounded. “It’s a fun place to race, but man
anything can and usually does happen here. Keeping out of
the big one and being around for the final 10 laps are critical
here at Talladega.”
The fourth race of the season also marks the first primary
marketing partnership for Buffalo Wings & Rings as the
Cincinnati, Ohio based company has leaped aboard to take
control of Sheltra’s No. 60 Dodge Charger at Talladega
Superspeedway.
“I’m so proud to have Buffalo Wings & Rings
on this car,” added Sheltra. “What a company
they are and I’m looking forward to a long standing
relationship with them. They are incredible people with
44 great establishments and it’s our intention to
put them in victory lane Friday afternoon.”
In addition, Salem, New Hampshire’s Scott Herman,
a cast member favorite in the 2009 edition of MTV’s
Real World: Brooklyn is hanging out with the Sheltra Motorsports
team this weekend and grasping his first waive of auto racing
from inside the garage.
“Scott is a cool dude,” replied Sheltra. “I
met him last night for the first time and he had an instant
click with this race team. He is our guest this weekend
at Talladega and I’m really glad he’s here and
we’re looking forward to bringing him back to more
races down the road while making him a fan for life!”
Entering Talladega, Sheltra has 49 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts
to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway
(April 2009). Sheltra also holds second place efforts at
Rockingham Speedway (April 2009), Toledo Speedway (May 2008)
and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (September 2008) with
four additional top-five finishes, (fourth) at Toledo Speedway
(October 2008), (fifth) at Talladega Superspeedway (October
2008), (third) at Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 2007)
and (fourth) at Berlin Raceway (July 2007) while holding
additional top-10s at Nashville Superspeedway (August 2008),
Michigan International Speedway (June 2008), Kentucky Speedway
(May 2008), Kansas Speedway (April 2008), Iowa Speedway
(April 2008), Kentucky Speedway (June 2007), DuQuoin State
Fairgrounds (September 2007) and Toledo Speedway (October
2007). A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway
(April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts
to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for
109 laps.
The ARCA RE/MAX 250 (94 laps / 250 miles) is the fourth
of 22 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The
47th ever ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway is a two-day
show. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is set for Thursday
afternoon slated to begin at 5:05 p.m. A “Happy Hour”
45-minute practice has been etched in on Friday, April 24
from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. The event will take the
green flag that afternoon shortly after 4:00 p.m. The race
will be televised live on SPEED with additional live broadcasting
available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at
arcaracing.com. All times are local.
