Iowa Recap: Not even a soggy weekend at
Iowa Speedway could keep sophomore ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS)
driver Patrick Sheltra from his first top-10 finish of the
season. After starting eighth, Sheltra hovered in the top-10
for a majority of the 250-lap event and overcame a late
race tire vibration to record a ninth place finish, a career
best in two attempts at the Newton, Iowa facility.

A Series Of Firsts: The eighth ARCA RE/MAX
Series event at Kansas Speedway has proposed a lot of firsts
for the Sheltra Motorsports team. For the first time ever,
the Sheltra Motorsports will unload the Chrysler nameplate
and Dodge Charger model. The team will also unveil their
camouflage paint scheme. In addition, Sheltra Motorsports
will also debut RC Consultants who will supply the horsepower
under the hood for the team’s second trip to the 1.5-mile
speed plant.
Testing, Testing, 1.2.3: Earlier this
month Sheltra Motorsports based in Whitesville, Kentucky
had an opportunity to test at Kansas Speedway to prepare
for the fourth installment on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series
calendar. Delayed a day by torrential rain and thunderstorms,
the team was able to tackle the 1.5-mile speedway on Friday,
April 4 with very firm results.
Returning To The Source: Last year, 21-year
old Patrick Sheltra netted his first of three ninth-place
qualifying efforts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, a career best
in 28 starts. Last Saturday, Sheltra started eighth, but
the field was set by 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series car owner points
after persistent rain showers forced the cancellation of
ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying.
Watching & Learning: Following his
duties Friday afternoon at Kansas Speedway, Patrick Sheltra
will remain in Kansas City and tour the NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series garage Saturday. Sheltra is utilizing the first-doubleheader
weekend for the ARCA RE/MAX Series & NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series to finalize his advancement to NASCAR in July.
Watcha Haulin?: Crew Chief John Hayden
has elected to bring Sheltra chassis number 12 to Kansas
Speedway this weekend. The primary machine is the same Dodge
Charger that Sheltra maneuvered in the open-test at Kansas
earlier this month. Chassis number 15 will serve as the
team’s back-up automobile. The team has yet to run
that Dodge Charger in RE/MAX Series competition this year.
Point Standings: After round three on
the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Patrick Sheltra sits
sixth in the championship standings accumulating 515 points.
Sheltra is only 20 markers from moving into the top-five
currently held by SunTrust Rookie-of-the-Year candidate
Tom Hessert III. 165 credits separate Sheltra from the points
lead held by Justin Allgaier.
Looking Ahead: In addition to a full ARCA
RE/MAX Series schedule, Sheltra Motorsports and driver Patrick
Sheltra will also compete in a limited dirt late model schedule
(UMP and WoO) while also advancing Sheltra’s asphalt
career by launching a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (No.
35) career later this year.

Speedway Pre-Race Quotes:
Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Aaron’s
Outdoors Dodge:
On Iowa Speedway: “We are extremely
thrilled with our performance at Iowa Speedway last weekend.
Everyone worked hard and we were able to overcome a late
race tire vibration and finish in the top-10. After finishes
of 15th and 11th in the first two races, it was nice to
finally seal the deal with a top-10.”
On Kansas Speedway: “I like Kansas
Speedway. It was a track that I picked up on right away.
Last year, I posted my career-best qualifying effort of
ninth and we finished 12th. Not a bad weekend, but it could
have been better. We’re hoping to secure our second
consecutive top-10 finish Friday afternoon.”
On Aaron’s Outdoors: “We are
thrilled with our new relationship with Aaron’s Outdoors.
It’s exciting that Aaron’s has a new program
that involves the outdoors and the apparel they are sporting
virtually matches our race car which attracts us like a
magnet. We are excited about our new relationship with Aaron’s
Outdoors and we hope to deliver them a good finish Friday.”
On Sitting Sixth In Points: “We
have to keep doing what we’ve been doing to stay in
the championship chase. All three races we run in the top-10
and finished in the top-15. Not a bad way to start the season
but we know that finishing each and every race will keep
us in the hunt. A testament to our position in the standings
goes to the boys on the Sheltra Motorsports team. They deserve
a pat on the back for all of their hard work.”

of the entire Sheltra Motorsports team, I would like to
thank Aaron’s Outdoors for partnering with us for
the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand. Patrick is an avid hunter
and our new camouflage paint scheme really makes this partnership
