Pocono Recap: Sheltra Motorsports suffered
their second worst finish of the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series
season last Saturday at Pocono Raceway. After recovering
from hiccups in practice and ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying,
Patrick Sheltra bolted to fourth only to have his motor
expire on lap 34. The team finished 33rd.
Heading Back To The Motor City: For the
third time in his ARCA RE/MAX Series career, Patrick Sheltra
returns to Michigan International Speedway looking to muster
his fifth top-10 finish of the season in nine races. Previously
at the two-mile oval, Sheltra has amassed a career best
finish of 14th occurring last June in the Michigan ARCA
200. Sheltra started 24th.
Sheltra Tested; Team Approved: Whitesville,
Kentucky based Sheltra Motorsports participated in an open
test at Michigan International Speedway last month with
satisfying results. The team has brought the same chassis
back to MIS searching for their first victory in their sophomore
season of competition. The team has made some aggressive
changes to their primary automobile hoping to put the team
on top in Friday’s anticipated thriller.
Double Duty: After competing in the ARCA
RE/MAX Series event on Friday afternoon, Sheltra will head
south at climb aboard his No. 23 All About Flowers-Brady
Ranch Chevrolet Monte Carlo for a night of dirt racing at
Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Indiana on Saturday, June
14th. The last dirt event Sheltra competed in he captured
the victory at Union County Speedway in Liberty, Indiana.

Watcha Haulin?: Crew Chief John Hayden
has elected to bring Sheltra chassis number 15 to Michigan
International Speedway this week. This is a brand new chassis
to Sheltra Motorsports for the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Chassis
number 15 was acquired from Penske Racing and driver Ryan
Newman during the off season. Chassis number 11 will serve
as the team’s back-up automobile. The team ran that
model in last Saturday’s Pocono ARCA 200 at Pocono
Raceway.
Point Standings: After round eight on
the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Patrick Sheltra sits
eighth in the championship standings accumulating 1,475
points. Sheltra is only 155 markers from moving into the
fifth position currently held by nine time ARCA RE/MAX Series
champion Frank Kimmel. 315 credits separate Sheltra from
the points lead held by SunTrust Rookie-of-the-Year candidate
Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.
Looking Ahead: In addition to a full ARCA
RE/MAX Series schedule, Sheltra Motorsports and driver Patrick
Sheltra will also compete in a limited dirt late model schedule
(UMP and WoO) while also advancing Sheltra’s asphalt
career by launching a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career
later this year.

International Speedway Pre-Race Quotes:
Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Ferguson Pipe
Enterprises-FloraGanics-The Casite Company Dodge:
On Pocono Raceway: “We were disappointed
in the finish, we’re not going to hide that. We overcame
the problems we had with our Dodge Charger and charged to
the front. We did a good job. Sometimes you just can’t
control motor failure.”
On Michigan International Speedway: “Michigan
International Speedway is an important race for the Sheltra
Motorsports team. We need to bounce back from last weekend’s
misfortune and finish in the top-five. We’re bringing
another extremely competitive Dodge Charger and I think
our chances of winning this race are strong.”
On Double Duty Weekend: “Heck, I’m
always excited when I am able to do a double-duty weekend.
We finished first and second (dirt and ARCA) the last time
I conquered double duty. The perfect weekend would be to
do finish first on Friday and go out and back up on my win
from Union County Speedway Saturday night.”
On Father, Rick Sheltra On Father’s Day Weekend:
“My father is awesome. He is with me every week at
the race track and he’s one of my biggest supporters.
I cannot begin to thank him for everything he’s done
for me. I’m aiming to win both on the asphalt and
dirt for him.”
Sheltra Motorsports, Michigan
International Speedway Pre-Race Quotes:
Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Ferguson Pipe
Enterprises-FloraGanics- The Casite Company Dodge:
On Pocono Raceway: “We didn’t
need that finish last weekend but we can’t hold a
grudge against it. We need to bounce back and continue to
perform like we have been doing all year long. Our team
is strong and the finish will be something of the past.”
On Michigan International Speedway: “Michigan
was one of Patrick’s first speedway events in the
ARCA RE/MAX Series so he has plenty of experience. He wants
to win badly in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and this would be
a great place to bring home the trophy.”
