| No Relaxing For Patrick Sheltra
“No Vacation For Mr. Showtime; Staying Plenty
Busy”
INDIANTOWN, Florida (June 26, 2009) - - Even with a couple
weeks break from ARCA RE/MAX Series competition following
last Saturday's Tim Richmond Memorial at Mansfield, veteran
driver Patrick Sheltra is on the move. From working for
his family-owned company to making a special appearance
for his marketing partner Buffalo Wings & Rings, there
has been no rest for Sheltra, who's also making plans to
test at Iowa Speedway this Tuesday.
"Mr. Showtime" will head to Newton, Iowa on Monday
to prepare for the ARCA RE/MAX Series open test on Tuesday,
June 30.
However, before Sheltra packs his bags for Iowa, he'll
make a pitstop in Richmond, Indiana for a party at the local
Buffalo Wings & Rings restaurant owned by Leonard Ranieri
who is responsible for bringing the growing and likeable
restaurant chain on-board full-time to the Sheltra Motorsports
team.
"I don't mind spending my off weekend with Leonard
and his crew," said Sheltra. "I can't wait to
get there. He (Leonard) is a great person and the entire
team considers him family. He took a chance on us and I
think we are making the best of it. He is a smart businessman
and a good spokesperson for Buffalo Wings & Rings but
more importantly he's a big race fan. I know he's the one
responsible for putting this great relationship together.
I can't thank him enough."
The event will have the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings
Dodge Charger show car on display, music, great food, an
autograph session and even a raffle to give away two tickets
to the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Salem Speedway in September.
The event will lift off at 4:00 p.m. and is scheduled to
end at 9:00 p.m. local time.
Ranieri's first ARCA RE/MAX Series race was earlier this
year at Salem Speedway, where Sheltra, in his first race
back since his horrific crash in the Daytona opener, raced
his way to his career-first series victory.
Meanwhile, back at the team's shop in Whitesville, Kentucky,
the Sheltra Motorsports team is busy preparing a Dodge Charger
for the Iowa open test.
The third-year ARCA team originally wasn't planning to
attend the open test but with the cancellation of the ARCA
event at Cayuga Motor Speedway this weekend, the team adjusted
its schedule.
"I'm glad we're testing Iowa," Sheltra added.
"We've run good there but not great. We're in a little
hole right now with our finishes at Michigan and Mansfield,
so we need to get back on track, and what better way to
do that with a successful test and an even better race.
Hopefully the monkey will be off our back."
As for the 23-year-old's July 4th holiday plans? "I'll
be busy. I know that. I'm just hoping to have a lot of fun
and spend the time with some great people."
Sheltra has 55 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit
with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009).
During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated nine top-fives
and posted 18 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying
effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s
best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the
ARCA field five times for 109 laps.
