“Team; Marketing Partner Join Forces To Raise
Awareness Through Kimmie Cares”
KANSAS CITY, Kansas (October 1, 2009) - - Officials from
Sheltra Motorsports and their primary marketing partner
Buffalo Wings & Rings jointly announced today that the
two have joined forces for the month of October and November
to raise awareness of Breast Cancer through Sheltra Motorsports’s
racing program beginning with Thursday’s ARCA RE/MAX
Series Kansas Lottery 150 (No. 60 Dodge Charger) and expanding
to Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Kansas Lottery
300 (No. 81 Dodge Charger).
Both organizations have chosen Kimmie Cares, a foundation
headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio as its official Breast
Cancer Awareness Charity for the month of October.
The Kimmie cares doll, book, from The Partners For A Cure
Foundation address two critical and often overlooked issues
for women with cancer - helping moms explain the effects
of cancer to their small children, and helping both child
and adult share their fears and feelings so they can remain
close during this time of illness.
While many other organizations fund cancer research, donating
money for equipment, new medicines and scientists' salaries,
the The Partners For A Cure Foundation takes a somewhat
different approach. Proceeds generated from the sale of
the Kimmie Cares doll as well as donations collected through
other means are distributed not to scientists, but to individuals
with cancer. PFACF helps patients who are struggling financially
from the high costs of cancer treatment and related cancer
care expenses.
“This is just an incredible opportunity for Sheltra
Motorsports,” said driver Patrick Sheltra. “Everyone
knows someone or someone through a friend who is or has
been diagnosed or even sadly died of Breast Cancer. While
we can’t change what has happened to them we can try
through exposure and events to make a difference. I’m
proud that our race team has joined forces with Buffalo
Wings & Rings through Kimmie Cares to spread the word.
Believe me, we’re going to spend every waking moment
over the next two months to try and make a difference.”
Charlie Francus, Marketing Manager of Buffalo Wings &
Rings commented by saying, “We are proud to be a part
of this outstanding effort with Sheltra Motorsports; Patrick
Sheltra and Kimmie Caries to raise awareness and support
the fight against Breast Cancer in the month of October.”
The loss of a loved one hits close to home especially within
the Sheltra Motorsports and Buffalo Wings & Rings tier
as fellow team member and Buffalo Wings & Rings franchisee
owner Leonard Ranieri tragically lost his wife, Eliza Ranieri
last October to the disease. The team is racing in her honor
this weekend at Kansas Speedway as well as the ARCA RE/MAX
Series season finale next weekend at Rockingham Speedway.
The team has revamped their team logo while Buffalo Wings
& Rings has added the traditional Breast Cancer ribbon
around their logo for the two month project. The Buffalo
Wings & Rings signage on the racecars will also boast
the same layout.
To remember Eliza, the team has leaned on long-time Sheltra
Motorsports supporter, totalracebabe.com who has created
special “Together We Can Make A Difference”
bracelets which are available to friends, family and associates
who want to show their support of Breast Cancer. The bracelets
are available now through Sunday, November 15th through
the team’s web site at PatrickSheltra.com or BuffaloWingsandRings.com
and KimmieCares.com. A large percentage of each bracelet
will be donated to Kimmie Cares through the Eliza Ranieri
Foundation.
“Leonard is the man who brought Buffalo Wings &
Rings to racing and for that we are forever grateful,”
added Sheltra, who will make his first Nationwide Series
start at Kansas Speedway this weekend. “He is a great
friend to this team and I know that he is missing his wife
greatly but he has told us from day one about how he wants
to make a difference and spread awareness of Breast Cancer
in her honor. Here’s our chance and we plan to have
him involved in every step of the way.”
Additionally, the team will sport an all-pink camouflage
No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings-Kimmie Cares Toyota Camry
next weekend at Rockingham Speedway. Sheltra also has a
special pink uniform from Awesome Racewear which he’ll
auction off following the 21st race of the season with the
proceeds also going to Kimmie Cares on behalf of the Eliza
Ranieri Foundation.
“We’re remembering Eliza but we’re not
forgetting the thousands of women who have or had Breast
Cancer,” sounded Sheltra. “We’re also
not forgetting about everyone else that has some form of
Cancer. It’s an ugly disease and we just want them
all to know that they’re all in our thoughts and prayers.”
The “Together We Can Make A Difference” bracelets
will also be available for purchase for race fans in the
Kansas City, Kansas area this weekend as totalracebabe.com
has inked an agreement with Turn 2 Marketing to sell the
bracelets at the following souvenir trailers this weekend
at Kansas Speedway: 3M, CAT, Crown Royal, Ford, General
Mills, Jack Daniels and NAPA.
